THE WISC PROGRAM IN OXFORD IN BRIEF
WISC has made it possible for qualified students (with a GPA of 3.2 or higher after two years of university)
to study in Oxford for one, two or three terms as an Associate Student of one of several Oxford colleges.
Five educational tours per term are included.
Fees for Associate Students for one term (13 weeks) in 2006-07 are $16,100 (plus meals).
Students, if they wish, may receive a transcript from an accredited US university-the University of the
Pacific in California, with which WISC is associated.
Students with GPAs of 3.4 or higher may apply for Visiting Student status, which includes full university
privileges at one of two Medieval colleges-New College (1379) and
Magdalen College (1458). Magdalen requires a minimum GPA of 3.6.
(The fees are substantially higher.) The Oxford College always
makes the admissions decision.
All tutors are highly qualified and experienced; all are
fellows or lecturers of Oxford colleges.
Graduate study is possible, including Law,
Business, International Relations, etc.
Laboratory study in the sciences is possible.
Students may study in tutorial courses at
frequent intervals in the summer from May
15 to September 30. Students who enroll
on May 15, 2007 will have the benefit of all
extra-curricular activities, etc., of the last 4
to 5 weeks of the Trinity (Spring) term.
All students live in single rooms with British
students in the center of Oxford.
Each house has a phone, computer (with
wireless broadband Internet access throughout
the house), TV and video.
Students study for 12-13 weeks a term (almost a
semester) in one-on-one tutorial courses with 14-18
meetings a term. As a result almost any academic
subject may be studied.
WISC (with related programs) is the largest overseas
study program in Oxford with 450 students in the 2003-2004
Academic Year. WISC has the largest staff in Oxford: 10 persons
who are able to solve problems, etc., quickly. References from U.S.
professors and students are available. WISC students have previously studied
at 530 U.S. Colleges, over the last 20 years.
